Maui Surf School

Private lessons are perfect for the first-time beginners who want to learn the fundamentals of surfing. And for the intermediate surfer, who wants to improve their skills, practice catching bigger waves or work on their bottom turns, roundhouse cutbacks, staying in the tube longer and walking the nose if you are a long boarder. The Maui surf clinics are set up with an instructor by your side throughout your entire two- or three-hour class. Or more experienced surfers can choose the 5–6-hour sessions on the North Shore or West side of Maui to work on your focus in the ocean, choosing proper wave, wave knowledge, surfing style, and your technique.

With Semi Private Maui surf lessons, you will enjoy sharing surfing in an Easy, Fun, and Safe comfortable environment. Nancy has trained all her surf instructors personally and we keep a 3 to one ratio per surf instructor. If you have more family or friends learning, we add more time to your surf class to keep your class very personal in your learning experience. We can also provide longer period of time for large semi private parties as well.

Nancy’s surf instructors and surf coaches are passionate and dedicated to teaching, sharing knowledge and providing a quality experience to each and every one of our clients who travel from all around the world to learn the sport of surfing here in its birthplace of Hawaii.

Ms. Emerson has had schools of surfing and surf clinics also in Japan, Malibu, San Clemente California, Florida, Dominican Republic, Namotu, Fiji, Marshall Islands and Samoa, O’ahu and currently on the Gold Coast of Australia and Maui, Hawaii.

Nancy’s love for the ocean began early, growing up swimming and bodysurfing with her parents and friends along the beaches of Malibu and Pacific Palisades, California. At age nine, she learned to surf in Waikiki, spending part of her childhood on Oʻahu—both in Waikiki and on the Westside at Makaha. Oʻahu remains one of her favorite places in the world. In 1969, Nancy discovered Maui, fell in love with the island, and made it her home.

Nancy’s instructors are passionate and dedicated to teaching, sharing knowledge and providing a quality experience to each and every one of you who travel from all around the world to come and learn the sport of surfing here in its birthplace of Hawaii.

Nancy guarantees that with her teaching techniques you will transform and progress your surfing ability to new heights of confidence and precision. This is based on Nancy and her instructor’s positive reinforcements, level of dedication, passionate, patient and sensitive style of coaching and teaching for over 45 years worldwide. Nancy has a keen eye to the subtle aspects of form for the first-time beginner to the experienced surfer and is endorsed by the Association of Surfing Professionals now called World Surf League.
