Surfing gives us wonderful health benefits and keeps us happy riding waves. But it’s very important when you feel something out of left field to go and get yourself checked out. Two and half weeks ago my dear surfing buddy, chief surf coach for my Australian School of Surfing Mark McNamara had a massive heart attack surfing Kirra on the Gold Coast and we lost Mark. So please for you and your loved ones don’t ignore even small signs when your body talks to you. Life is very special and those of us that surf and have our surfing lifestyle are very blessed to have the ocean in our life. As our body goes through stages in Life adding to your surfing and riding waves, you can also add Yoga, Pilates (low-impact exercises & stretches) and Tai Chi are wonderful for surfing. Standup paddling is excellent core exercise too! But don’t forget to stretch that body of your’s.
